Emerging Legal Careers: Redefining JD Advantage
July 19, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Starting with the law school Class of 2011, a new term of art entered our lexicon — “JD Advantage.” It is a phrase that NALP and the ABA use to describe a category of jobs for which bar passage is not required but for which a JD degree provides a distinct advantage. In the decade since “JD Advantage” became a new outlet for lawyers seeking non-traditional legal careers, the opportunities, benefits, and outcomes of JD advantage positions have changed drastically. What used to be a relatively unknown segment of the legal profession is now a thriving professional pathway for thousands of lawyers. Are you considering a career that does not involve the traditional practice of law? Wondering how you can use your law degree to obtain non-traditional lawyer jobs? Join our panel of experts as we uncover JD advantage pathways and understand the realities of choosing or transitioning into non-traditional legal positions.
